Overview
The VA MAT Diabetes course gives childcare providers a foundation of knowledge and skills to care for a child with diabetes. All participants need to have a current MAT certificate or MAT renewal certificate. The content in this course is significantly more challenging than the MAT course and involves math, following more complex instructions than those used in the MAT course, and giving injections.

Childcare providers with a current MAT certification who will be caring for a child, or children, with diabetes at their center.

Course Format
The MAT Diabetes course consists of two parts.
Part 1 is completed online and covers the videos and some test questions. This takes about 3.5hrs and upon completion will allow the participant to print a certificate of completion. This part of the course can be accessed at: https://mat-elearning.medhomeplus.org/
Part 2 is done in person, participants will review the information and practice the skills from the online portion with the instructor. There is also a written test and a skills test. The time required for the in-person portion is 6-7hrs. On the day of the training, each participant is required to bring:
- A copy of their certificate of completion from Part 1
- Their current MAT certificate or MAT renewal certificate
**Unfortunately, anyone without the above documents will not be able to participate in the training**
